I am an avid sports bettor. I do enjoy gambling while watching the games. It keeps me hyperactive every time I’m in a winning streak or sometimes when I’m losing. Anyway, just recently I was browsing the internet on legality of gambling and how can the government get anything from all the gambling bettors. Soon enough I was able to find out the ways in which a sports bettor like me can be of help to the government. I have found out that all the gambling winnings that I am bound to get are taxable. This is not exclusive to big winnings. Thus, even if you get a meager amount from betting the winning horse, the prize that you will collect is already deducted with it’s necessary tax. Also, when it’s time to file your taxes, you will have to report your income with regards to your gambling leisure using the form 1040. Moreover itemizing all your winnings and losses in your gambling leisure can help you in deducting the amount of losses you have to the amount of winnings you claim. Thus, your tax for all your gambling may be a little smaller. But be sure to show all the necessary proof that you have lost or you have won a gambling event. Therefore, every time you are gambling in a sports, you have to make sure that all the receipts are collected and filed in its proper place.
