Close Kept Secrets to Weight Loss Lesson #51

Filed under: Hall Of Medical Resources — admin @ 1:01 am

Isn’t self discovery fascinating? We get to uncover so much about ourselves. So often we have conversations that are counterproductive and we walk away thinking that it is the other person who needs to change.

I have been sensing a huge shift in myself on this very topiccounterproductive vs. productive or low vibration vs. high vibration conversations. Over the last several months, I’ve been experiencing dissatisfaction with the dialogue I’ve been having with friends, family, clientspeople in general. Something has been stirring in me and I have needed to change things, but I wasn’t sure in what way. I could sense things haven’t been right and have been an observer to gain understanding.

I know now what it is. I’ve actively engaged in letting others discuss their problems to the point that I’ve allowed myself to be drained. I’ve allowed conversations to be strewn out sometimes for an hour at a time….and for several months about the same problem.
I’m now changing my conversations so that they reveal loving myself more.

Just today, a friend called and started off the conversation with things are great and then it naturally progressed to “Let’s now discuss why I really called. I have a problem.”
When she went to the problem about a particular male friend, which incidentally has been the same problem for almost a year now, I told her that this person was simply exhibiting behavior indicating a need for love. I then went on to describe that we all look for love through various means when really we need to learn to love ourselves more. Then we don’t go looking for it elsewhere.

My conversation was an AHA moment for me. I hadn’t been speaking my truth and loving myself because I had allowed these conversations. This particular conversation with this one friend has been played over and over for an entire year, and this is only one of her problem areas. Can you relate to this?

I had been looking for love through these conversations, but they were revealing something totally the opposite for me. I wasn’t getting loveI was getting exhausted and that’s not what love looks like. I am a natural counselor but I also know I need to empower people more. Empowering vs. enabling. Empowering builds energy; enabling sucks energy. Enabling has been a pattern for me and I’m grateful for the people who show up for me to demonstrate this pattern.

I’m now seeing the “problem”it is within me.

Think about your own conversations. What do you need to change to reveal loving yourself more?

When we have a weight problem, we need to look at many aspects. For today, focus on your conversations. If you feel drained after you have a conversation, you need to look at how you’re going to change it. If you feel uplifted after you have a conversation, keep surrounding yourself with this energy. Quickly identify it and then change it or keep it.

Are you enabling or empowering? You’ll know by how you feelit’s a simple assessment.

Incidentally, if you do need to change, people aren’t going to like the change in you as my friend indicated today. However, I felt euphoric as I understood the problem and then sought to change me. Euphoria will be yours as well, and it feels great!

Use the EFT set up and repeat after me:

I love me! I love me! I love me! I love me! I love me! I love me! I love me! I love me!

Keep affirming the positive. You are wonderful!

Love and hugs,

Anthony Loeff nonprofit worker is reporting digital tools for people suffering from blindness

Later versions of Microsoft Windows include an Accessibility Wizard and Magnifier for those with partial vision, and Microsoft Narrator, a simple screen reader. The open source GNOME desktop environment long included Gnopernicus and now includes Orca. Recent versions of Microsoft Windows come with the rather basic Narrator. Comming season volunteer Anthony Loeff is reporting software applications for people who are blind The primary audience for such applications is those who have difficulty reading because of learning disabilities or language barriers. The Macintosh OS also comes with a built-in screen reader, called VoiceOver. Access technology such as screen readers and Screen magnifiers enable the blind to use mainstream computer applications. Most legally blind people 76 percent do not use computers. While Apple Mac OS X includes VoiceOver, a more feature-rich screen reader.

Screen reader choice is contentious: differing priorities and strong preferences are common. This interpretation is then represented to the user with text-to-speech, sound icons, or a braille output. Screen readers are a form of assistive technology potentially useful to people who are blind, visually impaired, or learning disabled, often in combination with other AT such as screen magnifiers. Experimental approaches in sensory substitution are beginning to provide access to arbitrary live views from a camera.

The latter developed in part by Knopper who has a visual impairment. However functionality remains limited compared to equivalent desktop applications, the major benefit is to increase the accessibility of said websites. The movement towards greater web accessibility is opening a far wider number of websites to adaptive technology, making the web a more inviting place for visually impaired surfers. Further, using a screen reader is, according to some users, considerably more difficult than using a GUI and many applications have specific problems resulting from the nature of the application.

Increasingly, screen readers are being bundled with operating system distributions. Linux distributions for the blind include Oralux and Adriane Knoppix. A screen reader is a software application that attempts to identify and interpret what is being displayed on the screen. Screen readers can be assumed to be able to access all display content that is not intrinsically inaccessible.

Only a small fraction of this population, when compared to the sighted community, have Internet access.

The rest have some vision, from light perception alone to relatively good acuity. Near 11 percent of those deemed legally blind, by any measure, have no vision. There are also open source screen readers, such as the Linux Screen Reader for GNOME and NonVisual Desktop Access for Windows.

The console-based Oralux Linux distribution ships with three screen-reading environments: Emacspeak, Yasr and Speakup. A persons choice of screen reader is dictated by many factors, including platform and the role of organizations like charities, schools, and employers.

Web browsers, word processors, icons and windows and email programs are just some of the applications used successfully by screen reader users.

Low Carb Diet - The Basics To Effective Weight Loss

Filed under: Hall Of Medical Resources — admin @ 11:42 pm

People who are overweight are engaging in low carb dieting for their better health and vitality not only weight loss. It is also interesting to know that not only those who are overweight who are after the low carb diet plans.

The low carb diet is noted to have given great benefits to most of the people. In fact, the low carb diet is considered as the best diet fad that strikes at the true cause of obesity, high cholesterol, hypoglycemia, high blood pressure, and diabetes. With such results that the low carb diet contributes, many doctors and nutritionists are now starting to recognize the nature about the low carb diet.

Generally, the low carb diet has various versions. There are several well-known versions of the low carb diet. Even though the diets differ in their recommendations, it is very nice to recognize that the low carb diet, as the general rule applies, is synonymous with a high-fat and moderate protein diet. With a low carb diet, you are given the opportunity to eat until you are full, as long as you eat only those foods that are allowed for your diet.

Low carb diets are one of the hottest diet fads in the world today. Low carb diets have swept many parts of the world through the introduction of its function and contributions to the diet industry. So today, it is no doubt that the low carb diet is acclaimed for its popularity and the great health benefits that it gives to the people.

However, for those who are not really aware about low carb diets, here are some of the low carb nutritional principles that are vital for the formation of the core of the low carb nutritional approach.

Essentially, the first nutritional principle of the low carb diet approach is to lose weight. This is the primary reason that both men and women follow low carb plans. With this principle, it is noted that many people who have followed the low carb approach to weight loss readily take off inches and pounds.

Secondly, the low carb diet plan is intended for the people to maintain their weight loss. With this principle, the low carb diet nutritional approach leaves most other weight control programs in the dust.

Finally, the last principle of a low carb diet is that those who follow the diet program will attain good health over the long term. With the low carb diet plans, many dieters have noted that the change is amazing.

Could a Slim, Healthier You be Just a Tick Away?

Filed under: Hall Of Medical Resources — admin @ 8:29 pm

As your holiday approaches do you hear yourself saying “I really must lose some weight before I go on holiday”, or during your holiday as you over indulge (and why not? After all, you are on holiday) do you hear yourself saying once again “I really must go on a diet after my holiday”.
Yes, we have all been there! We mean to diet before holidays, after holidays, before Christmas, after Christmas, and so on … and isn’t it funny how we are so full of good intentions at the time when we are so full after finishing off that box of chocolates we couldn’t resist opening. It’s always the same old story, we only mean to eat just one chocolate, our favourite, and then, as if by magic, the whole box is suddenly empty. And that is when we are filled with (not just chocolates) but the desire to embark on yet another slimming diet. Usually, of course, the resolution to slim disappears even faster than the chocolates.

Well, do not despair - DO NOT TRY TO SLIM. Yes, you did not misread it, I’ll say it again - “DO NOT TRY TO SLIM”. JUST PUT TICKS IN THE APPROPRIATE COLUMNS AND IF THE FIRST COLUMNS ARE FULL OF TICKS AND THE COLUMNS ON THE RIGHT ARE PRETTY WELL DEVOID OF TICKS, THEN YOU WILL HAVE LOST WEIGHT WITHOUT EFFORT AND WITH THE ADDED BONUS THAT YOU WILL BE EATING HEATHILY, AND YOUR ENERGY AND SKIN TONE WILL ALSO PERK UP.
Print off the following form -
AND THEN EVERY TIME YOU EAT A PORTION OF FOOD PUT A TICK IN THE APPROPRIATE COLUMN

(1)
Fresh fruit, vegetables, (pref. green/orange/red (eg broccoli, cabbage, carrots, tomatoes etc) salads, nuts, seeds, pulses, etc.

(2) Fish, lean meat, eg chicken, turkey, (red meat no more than once a week) yoghurts, soya milk, etc.

(3)
Potatoes, bread, pasta, rice, etc.

(4)
All sugary, fatty treats, eg chocolates, sweets, crisps, cakes, biscuits, buns, sausage rolls, pies, etc. Beers, fizzy drinks, etc.

Day of Week Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat Sun

Remember, the majority of the ticks should appear in column (1)a lesser number in column (2) a much lesser number in (3) and hopefully column (4) is empty.

(1) Remember when I gave you my favourite and nutritional breakfast? - Put into a microwaveable dish - tablespoon of oats, half-tablespoon sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, raisins, a sprinkling of linseed and sesame seeds, and any or all of the following - chopped apple/apricots/nuts. Add a teaspoonful of malt extract or honey, if desired. Mix with water, soya milk or skimmed milk and microwave for approx. 5 mins. Top with yoghurt or prunes, if desired.

(2) Remember the government’s health advice - eat 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day. For your main meal, as a guideline, and served on a SMALL dinner plate - half of it should be fresh vegetables/salad, quarter of it should be white meat/fish (preferably oily fish such as sardines, salmon etc) up to a quarter should be potatoes/rice(preferably brown)/pasta.

(3) Remember, drink plenty of fluids, particularly water. For every cup of your usual beverage, why not equal it by drinking the same amount of water? This will result in you drinking less of your usual beverage and more water, which means less hydration and improved skin tone. If you fancy a glass of wine with your meal, then choose red.
Columns l, 2 & 3 provide vitamins & minerals, nutrients and fuel for the body. (Avoid ‘fast-food’ and ‘processed food’, as most of the goodness is lost in the manufacturing process) Column 4 = delicious, but for our healthy eating we’ll think of them as ‘rubbish’ foods -
REMEMBER, IT MAY BE AN OLD SAYING BUT IT STILL RINGS TRUE TODAY - “a moment of pleasure on the lips, a lifetime of misery on the hips.
HOWEVER, IF, AT THE END OF THE WEEK, COLUMN (1) IS CROWDED WITH TICKS, THEN YOU CAN TREAT YOURSELF TO JUST ONE ‘MOMENT OF PLEASURE’ FROM COLUMN 4.

Cold Laser Therapy: Hope for Arthritis

Filed under: Hall Of Medical Resources — admin @ 1:17 pm

Having had the rare, first-hand opportunity to observe cold laser therapy treatment in action, I am impressed at its remarkable ability to help in healing with rheumatoid arthritis.

As my dad suffers from various maladies, including having a heart defibrilator. He was sceptical on whether he wanted to try cold laser therapy. After a seemingly endless bout with ill health and failed conventional treatments, he simply didn’t believe anything could help him.

I had mentioned cold laser therapy in the past, but being that my dad is retired military and on Tricare Prime medical insurance, he was first referred to a Rheumatologist who promptly prescribed Prednisone to my diabetic father.

The Prednisone (a steroid) did more harm than good. He gained a tremendous amount of water weight, which further exerted his already problematic heart and certainly did not help his renal issues either. After just a few days of the prednisone treatment, his overall health was deteriorating rapidly. He was just about ready to throw in the towel.

Through research, I discovered a local, Chiropractic Physician who utilized cold laser therapy. Without further adieu, I scheduled an appointment for my dad. A bit apprehensive, and rightfully so, he was not as convinced as me about this so-called cold laser therapy.

I explained to him that cold laser therapy is FDA-Approved, non-invasive, didn’t involve any needles and promised him that no harm would come to him. I also elaborated on extensive, scientific research that proved its healing capabilities.

“But what about Daddy’s defibrilator?” my mom asked. Although, I had already questioned Dr. Schafer about this, I had my mom give her a phone call herself and reiterate the same question. The fact that my dad has a defibrilator had no baring, and the cold laser therapy would not interrupt its process.

On his Saturday appointment, my dad’s hand and fingers were so swollen from the rheumatoid arthritis that his hand not only appeared broken, but it was so stiff that he could not move his fingers a single centimeter.

Pulling up to Dr. Schafer’s clinic, I told my father that I believed in this treatment and knew that even if it didn’t completely cure the arthritis, it would certainly help him.

When we walked in the door, Dr. Schafer was very personable and made it a point to introduce herself as ‘Virginia.’ Not only this, she specifically greeted my dad by name without having to ask who he was. This, of course, helped my dad to be a bit more relaxed in the quiet office.

Dr. Schafer called my dad into her office and had my mom and me accompany them to watch how the cold laser therapy worked. Firstly, she reviewed my dad’s medical records and began to explain how cold laser therapy worked.

Because the cold laser emits a low level of power output and its beam penetration is deep, it has been effectively proven to treat human tissue. Individuals become swollen due to injury or other physiological disorders caused by excessive buildup of watery fluid in tissue spaces. Initially, swollen tissue prevents movement of damaged tissue but concurrently causes central trauma pain and secondary pain from the swelling itself.

By targeting the lymphatic system, cold laser therapy first preserves body fluid balance, and simultaneously improves reabsorption of edema through the infrared laser light. Overall, cold laser therapy distinctly demonstrates a reduction in swelling and permits motion to return to the treated part.

So, with that knowledge, Dr. Schafer retrieved what looked like a Maglite flashlight. While she placed the cold laser directly on my dad’s affected hand, she congenially told us about her research, about her background and even about her family. Putting my dad even more at ease with her compassion, Dr. Schafer shifted the cold laser to different areas of his hand for moments at a time.

Before my own eyes, I could literally see the swelling begin to retreat. I asked my dad if he felt anything. With a slight smile, he said, “yes, it’s feeling better.” Needless to say, Dr. Schafer is a shining example of the hypocritic oath - “…first, do no harm…”

After my dad’s visit, there was a remarkable reduction in swelling. Even Dr. Schafer explained how she ‘is simply amazed herself every time she uses the cold laser.’

Since then, he has had another visit. And again, the results were incredible. Now he is able to move his fingers - which he was unable to do prior to his visit to Dr. Schafer. Although rheumatoid arthritis is a tough cookie to crack, cold laser therapy works magnificently. Its ability to have such a dramatic impact on healing, without conventional drugs, needles, or other un-natural stimulous makes the cold laser therapy not only an exciting, innovative therapy but a treatment that offers hope to so many.

Would I recommend it? Definitely.

Qualifying for Lap Band Surgery

Filed under: Hall Of Medical Resources, Health Center — admin @ 3:34 pm

Not everyone can receive the services of lap surgery. The lap band system does go by specific requirements. There is such thing as a good and bad candidtae for this adjustable band.

To know if you are a good candidate for the lap band surgery, consider calculating your BMI, body mass index. On the BMI chart, less than 18.5 BMI is considered underweight. Between 18.5 and 24.9 BMI is normaly weight and 25 to 29.9 BMI is considered overweight. Obese is 30 to 34.9 BMI. Severely obese is between 35 and 39.9 BMI, while morbidly obese is considered 40 and above BMI. To be a qualified candidate for the lap band system surgery is to have a body mass index 40 or above. Another factor could be if you currently weight twice your ideal weight or 100 pounds over your ideal weight.

Have you tried to lose weight before by going on diets and have little or no sucess? This could help you become a good candidate for this surgery. If you have been overweight for more than several years can be a good factor as well. Surgeons pay attention to good and bad candidates.

Candidates without the factors leading to a successful procedure are usually not taken. Usually, candidates are adults over the age of 18 with a body mass index of at least 40 for the lap band system surgery. If you have a health condition that has caused your significant weight gain and have a BMI of at least 35 then you may be considered a candidate.

There are many factors in determining if you are a good candidate for lap surgery. It is a procedure that is done to help lose weight due to health risks not because you think you are not small enough or beautiful. See your doctor and allow them to determine you as a candidate or not for the lap band surgery.

Prostate Health

Filed under: Hall Of Medical Resources — admin @ 9:04 am

Diet and lifestyle play important roles in keeping the prostate healthy. Food and the environment influence the way the body functions. The body has natural defenses against allowing normal cells to become cancerous and allowing cancer cells to grow. Ingestion of certain nutrients may decrease the chances of developing prostate cancer or reduce the likelihood of recurrence. Certain nutrients may also slow down the progression of the disease.

Adopting certain dietary changes is an important step towards better prostate health. Obesity is known to increase the risk of prostate cancer. Research shows that prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test results in obese men can be lower despite the presence of disease, potentially leading to a delay in diagnosis and treatment. The recovery from surgery tends to be longer and more difficult and the risk of death due to prostate cancer can be higher.

Weight management is essential for good prostate health. Regular exercise is necessary to maintain muscle strength and endurance. An increase in the intake of vegetables and nuts can prove beneficial. Tomatoes, watermelons, pink grapefruits, guava and papaya contain lycopene, a naturally occurring chemical. Lycopene is a powerful antioxidant that help protect the body against cancer.

Vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and Brussels sprouts contain sulforaphane, a compound that increases activity of proteins and clears out carcinogens from the body. Carcinogens are substances known to cause cancer and are ingested into our body on a regular basis.

Isoflayones found in soy and polyphenols found in green tea, interrupt the growth pathways of cancer cells. Asian men are known to consume soy and green tea regularly and hence are at a lesser risk of being afflicted with prostate cancer.

Vitamins and minerals in food help regulate many of the body’s processes and functions. They help monitor the balance between cancer cell growth and cancer cell death. Research over the years has shown that the loss of vitamins and minerals contribute to uncontrolled cancer cell growth. An increase in the intake of foods rich in vitamins and minerals like lettuce, cereals, citrus fruits, milk and carrots, help reduce the risk of prostate cancer. Since men lose zinc during every seminal emission, their need for the mineral is higher than a woman’s. Pumpkin seeds, oysters and shellfish are good sources of zinc. Following these simple dietary tips ensures good prostrate health.

The Cause and Treatment of Anal Fissure - A Different View

Filed under: Hall Of Medical Resources — admin @ 2:23 am

The symptoms of most anal fissures can be relieved with wheatgrass. You won’t have to change your diet, drink gallons of water, use stool softeners or load your bowel with fibre. Best of all, you won’t have to suffer the pain and bleeding that can be so distressing in this condition.

Surgery, like botox injections and other expensive procedures should only be considered as a last resort.

Anal fissure - What is it?

A fissure is a split or tear at the outer end of the anal canal wall, usually at the posterior or back side of the anus. In chronic fissures, a skin tag known as a “sentinel pile” often overlies the fissure and can be mistaken for a painful hemorrhoid.

The power of wheatgrass healing

Although it affects a different part of the body, anal fissure results from a breakdown in the anal wall very much like a split lip which, as many of us know, can also be very painful and difficult to treat. A young male patient suffered this problem for more than a year and received numerous treatments that didn’t work including steroids and antibiotics. His wound however healed in one week after only one application of wheatgrass cream. (See link at the end of this article for photographs)

What are the symptoms of anal fissure?

Typical symptoms may be:

  • Pain, which can be severe, during and after bowel movements
  • Red blood in the stool (blood on the toilet paper)
  • Constipation - due to pain causing avoidance of passing stool
  • Anal itchiness, burning
  • Difficulty in passing urine

Why is there so much pain?

The area where anal fissure occurs is supplied by numerous nerve endings that are highly sensitive. Even a tiny split in the wall of the anal canal can be very painful, particularly during a bowel motion when the anal muscles are stretched.

Who else gets anal fissure?

Anal fissure is very common. It is estimated that approximately 250,000 new cases occur each year in the US alone. It can occur in newborns and right across the age spectrum to old age, and affects both sexes equally. It is most common from young adulthood to middle age. Pregnancy and childbirth can aggravate or initiate the condition.

How long does it last?

Approximately 50-60% of anal fissures will heal spontaneously. However it can recur or become chronic (sometimes lasting for years) in the other 40-50%.

How is anal fissure diagnosed?

Symptoms of pain and rectal bleeding will alert your doctor to make a simple examination of the outer end of the anal canal. If an acute fissure is present, it will look like a small tear in the posterior (the back end, near the spine) of the anus. Chronic fissures have thickened edges and a “sentinel pile” as mentioned earlier.

If considered necessary, particularly if bleeding is present, the doctor will arrange further investigations such as colonoscopy to exclude other causes of blood loss.

How is anal fissure treated?

My method is simple. I use a wheatgrass extract in a cream base and get the patient to apply a small amount just inside the anal opening twice daily with a cotton bud. In greater than 80 percent of cases, the symptoms disappear, usually within four to six weeks, sometimes within a few days.

Because the fissure itself is not a life-threatening condition, it is not essential to heal the fissure although most of them do heal in time. The aim should always be to rid patients of their symptoms so they can resume a normal quality of life - something that wheatgrass is very good at.

What causes anal fissure?

Doctors invoke all kinds of reasons why fissures develop including constipation, hard bowel motions, diarrhea, inflammation, reduced blood flow to the anal region, poor bowel habit and even “spiky” foods such as peanuts. They seem to forget that many fissure patients do not have constipation, (some in fact have diarrhea) and some babies are born with fissures. It is unlikely the cause is related to trauma unless there is some direct injury to the anal wall e.g. from colonoscopy or childbirth.

More likely, the fissure occurs first and the constipation follows. In other words, constipation is an effect and an aggravating factor, not a cause of anal fissure. How do I know this?
The answer is based on simple clinical observation of numerous patients with chronic constipation. Many of them had undiagnosed chronic anal fissures, because an anal examination had not been performed. Following relief of pain with wheatgrass treatment their constipation cleared up.

Therefore, I believe that anal fissure is most likely an auto-immune condition.

What does auto-immune mean?

Normally the immune antibodies our bodies produce act to stave off bacteria, viruses and other organisms that try to invade the body, and to kill off cancer cells that continually develop inside us. When this system goes awry, such as when the body undergoes severe or prolonged emotional or physical stress or severe illness, these antibodies can attack and damage healthy cells, tissues or organs. This is called an auto-immune reaction which can eventually cause an auto-immune condition if it continues long enough. In rheumatoid arthritis for example, joints can become severely damaged. i.e. they become red, swollen and painful and eventually lose their function.

My theory is that this is what occurs in anal fissure and possibly in other similar painful conditions such as tennis elbow and plantar fasciitis and perhaps even in a split lip. For some reason, these antibodies attack the mucous membrane on the anal wall. This breaks down and the fissure opens up. At time of passing stool, the anal muscles reflexly go into spasm and the bare nerve endings in the fissure produce a painful sensation. The pain leads to stool avoidance which can then cause constipation which aggravates the fissure and the whole process becomes cyclical.

Unless some way is found to heal the fissure, or the body repairs itself, the fissure becomes chronic. The anal verge being unable to “rest” for any length of time because of the need for bowel evacuation, the fissure remains open.

So the aim should be to fix the fissure, not the constipation. However, this has never been an easy task - until now.

How does wheatgrass work for anal fissure?

Having used wheatgrass on thousands of patients for a variety of conditions it has been strikingly obvious to me that it facilitates natural healing e.g. for wounds, burns, fractures, anal fissure etc. One can actually see the healing in progress for example in burns and infected wounds when the open wound is re-covers itself with a thin film of new cells in 24-48 hours. This keeps the body fluids in and the bacteria out, and the patient’s pain disappears as well. These are not phenomena one sees when the body is healing itself unaided.

Wheatgrass in some way “normalizes” damaged tissue and facilitates rapid healing. It can also work dramatically in some cases of auto-immune related disorders such as acne rosacea and psoriasis. In other words, it appears to act as a topical (surface) immunomodulator.

Wheatgrass is a powerful, natural healing agent that often works when nothing else does.
